How are you set up for this winter?

Need to find a good heater, but I will be gone for a good part of the winter anyhow. Going to Cali for a couple weeks around New Year and then will be at Jessica and Sammy's for a good amount of time on both sides of that.
How are you doing these days?

Struggling, but good. Going throw a divorce, but I am happier. Life is good!!

Just thought I would update you on my planned California trip... I am actually going to try to move out there in a couple weeks. I was wondering if you would want to ride with us? I am not real sure how we are going to get there yet. Lol My truck broke down and it is not fixable... It's pretty much the reason I am moving.... I got a job waiting for me that paysd 21 an hour... So I am going!
Thinking about renting a car and driving out... I've made the drive twice, and can do it easily in 3 days. If you want to go, maybe we could divy up the costs somehow... I'm sure it wouldn't cost much... I'm tring to keep the trip cost around 600 tops, so split 3 ways its 200 each... let me know what you think... I am open to ideas....

I have switched these days from having far too many dogs, to having far too many cats, but it keeps me from being lonely and it definitely makes boredom pretty much impossible. It also saves me some money on blankets, since during the winter they all decide to lay all over me. lol

you can use apt-get to remove things too.

sudo apt-get remove vlc

or remove things and their configuration files.

sudo apt-get purge vlc

you would remove if you plan to reinstall and want to keep your configurations, or you would purge to just get rid of it.

these are the most common ways to install things. that command or using the software manager. there are other ways, debian packages or .deb are simple to use. you just download them and double click and it installs itself. sometimes you need to build it from source (which is a simple 2 commands) but not most of the time.

the main programs will always be in your software manager and you just click install. if you find a program on a site, they almost always have the install commands or instructions right there.

and all he did was teach me the basics or help when i was stuck. the rest was like a game to me. a game i had to keep improving on.

I am sure I will figure it all out. I will prolly just put linux on that laptop and no windows, and then I will have to learn it. I have linux on this computer, but I am afforded the luxery of falling back on windows whenever I want, so I end up using windows here more than linux.

on this computer, I have mostly used linux to test whether my hardware is really broken, or if it is a windows configuration error. Like I cant use a usb mouse on windows on this computer, but I know the usb mouse works, because it is fine in linux.

it will be nice to get my hands on a newer computer and to work with an unfamiliar os . I welcome the challenge.

I might have to holler at you though, when I try to install google chrome on that system. ZFor some reason I couldnt get it to install in linux on this one.

Yeah, John Redbow had an affair with my mom for a couple years, and they managed to create my sister Meme and me. Sadly he died of tuberculosis before we ever got to meet him.

Sadder still, being bastards we don't get on the rolls and don't get benefits. So if the put up a casino, we see nothing from it.

My mom just wasn't supposed t be a parent. She was not suited for it. If not for the Comstock Laws, I would not be here now. Lucky for me birth control was not legal at that time. I'm very liberal politically, but abortion is one topic where I have a great deal of trouble leaning to the left. Your mom had an affair and you and your sister were born. I can think of your mom having an affair as a "mistake" but I just can't think of a child as a "mistake." A child is conceived and that isn't right or wrong - it just is. I am postive that 99.9% of Americans will find something to disagree with about that...but it's what I think.

Hi Doc, thanks for reaching out. I consider myself to be pretty progressive but open minded. I'm a big support of Lawrence Lessig and "Common Cause" and "DemocracyMatters" (I volunteered for them). They are both all about public financing. I'm a big crusader against mindless consumerism (I read and love Adbuster's magazine) and advertising in general. I'm sure we have a lot in common and I always love to hear the thought and ideas of others!

Sorry Douglas, I am an agnostic, so I tend to be an enigma to both the religious and the atheists and manage to piss them both off most of the time for not "really" being in either of their clubs.
Being a centrist (albeit with left leanings), I tend to do the same thing when it comes to politics. Neither the D's or the R's know quite what to do with me, so both sides often times choose to attack instead of actually talking rationally and getting to know where we agree and where we disagree.
I do not ever try to offend anyone just for the sake of offending. I do make a faux pas occasionally because I found something funny or too important to pass by. But I do have a temper that I have found to my amazement, can be reached quicker on the internet than in the physical world and I can be quite confrontational to those who decide to pick a fight and not let it go when I give them a couple tries to do so. Of course all of this happens at hyper speed if I am drinking. I am human after all (or at least I have to keep making people think so for now).
So if you are ok with all that, then I think we will be ok as internet friends and I do look forward to future communications between us.
Oh, by the way, I personally am not gay, but I am very much on the side of gay people when it comes to equal rights and them not getting the shit stomped out of them. I have even ended up in the hospital before on account of standing up to stop abuse of my friends and even strangers. So I hope my defense of people that are born that way doesn't bother you. Misty is my daughter’s name…she was going to college for Psychology & Social work, until she had an accident coming home from school. She than would not drive on the highway for about 5 months and to this day has still not driven the same route. But has finally decided she wants to start school again but change her major to Criminal Psychology. She is looking now to see if she can take any of her classes online. She works at Thomas Edison back in the group home; she’s been there for almost 3 years.
She isn’t married yet nor do I have any grandkids either…I am ready to be a grandma but not ready for Misty to be a mother. She isn’t dating right now either so I don’t see it happening anytime soon!

I haven’t been on the radio for at least 12 years. I did move, but just to Burt St. here in Van Wert I have been here every since, and don’t plan on going anywhere soon. Misty would like to go to New York, so if she does than maybe someday I will follow her. We both love it there, but I am not sure it’s a great place to live.

I've seen valid data from the worst web sites and I don't determine data based on the site but I also post information without fully establishing whether it's valid or not because through commentary I can often times get some idea, without having to go off and research it myself. I've had a PACER password for quite some time because I follow several 911 cases and I've looked at some of Rolls recent rulings and there's nothing to substantiate the claims in the post. I haven't looked at all of them but I don't have time to do so and will have to suspect the post is inaccurate until it's proven otherwise.

I also don't remove posts that are in error because I feel it's just another form of censorship and it eliminates, often times, valid commentary so although the post is likely erroneous it will remain, I hope you understand that. I don't fear making errors, we all do that.

This is complicated Doc, but I'm right. And I'm 100% right. The charts, sample maps and images in the book will make this all clear to you. Study what I'm saying here: (this is unedited and there may be typos)

Produced By A Common Process

Here we’re plotting the concentration of Barium at each location against the Strontium concentration. The correlation between the concentrations of the two elements, Barium and Strontium is very strong. The graph on the left shows just the first 9 locations, where the concentration of both Barium and Strontium was below 1000ppm and the graph on the right adds the 10th data point at WTC01-16 where the concentration of Barium and Strontium both spiked over 3000ppm.

We can see that the data lies on an asymptotic curve. Looking at the left hand graph most of the points form a very tight cluster (circled in red), where the Barium concentration was between 400-500ppm and the Strontium concentration was between 700-800ppm. This is telling, that such a high number of samples had very similar concentration profiles. This shows a fairly homogenous dispersal of the radionucleides by the blast (with the exception of one data point at WTC01-16) and that the Barium and Strontium concentrations are related in a fairly distinct and narrow band – they were produced by a common process. The very high concentration at WTC01-16 tells us even more and fits the correlation perfectly – evidently the process that produced the Barium and Strontium was still ongoing at that location, leading to an extremely high concentration there.

Correlation Coefficient

The quality of this correlation can be quantified statistically using what’s known as the Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. Correlation Coefficients are used to estimate how strong the relationship is between two different things – e.g. between smoking and lung disease. If there us a high correlation coefficient the two things might be related or linked.

Using this method, the Coefficient of Correlation between the concentration of Barium and Strontium at the outdoor and indoor sampling locations is 0.99 to 2 decimal places (0.9897 to 4 decimal places). The Correlation Coefficient between the concentration of Barium and the concentration of Strontium is 0.9897. The maximum Correlation Coefficient that is mathematically possible is 1.0 and this would mean we have a perfect match between the two factors we’re examining and the data points would lie on a straight line with no variation between them.

To obtain a Correlation Coefficient of 0.9897 with this number of measurements around Lower Manhattan is very, very significant indeed. What this means is that we can say that there’s a 99% correlation in the variation in the concentration between these two elements. They vary in lockstep; they very together, similarly. When one varies, so does the other. We can state with absolute mathematical certainty that any change in the concentration of one of these elements, either the Barium or Strontium, is matched by the same change in the concentration of the other.

Whatever process gave rise to the presence of the Barium or the Strontium must have produced the other as well.

There is only one process that can account for this and produces both. A very well known process indeed that this book discusses intimately.

Nuclear Fission.

But just to be sure, we can use another statistical procedure to test whether this correlation between the two values could have arisen by chance. For example, if there are only two data points one would invariably obtain a very good correlation between them, a correlation of 1 in fact, a prefect correlation. This is because if you only have two data points you can only draw a straight line to join them together.

The USGS took 12 measurements for Barium and Strontium. Using what is called a t test statistic, another statistical technique, we obtain a t value of 21.83 for the correlation coefficient of 0.99 with 12 data points. Without explaining this in detail, what this tells us is that the chance that such a high correlation coefficient could have arisen by chance with 12 measurements is vanishingly small. Nuclear Fission, confirmed.

We know beyond doubt that the only process that can cause Barium and Strontium to be present in related or correlated quantities and any process that can also cause Barium and Strontium to have such strong relational concentrations across different samples, is nuclear fission. We know that if nuclear fission had occurred that Barium and Strontium would be present and a strong statistical correlation between the quantities of each would be found, and we have that, in spades. What else do we have?

The Girder Coatings

About 400ppm of Barium and Strontium were measured in two samples of insulation girder coatings (WTC01-08 and 01-09). The concentration of Strontium actually falls somewhat below that of Barium in the second girder sample, WTC01-09, as at WTC01-16, whereas in every other sample the level of Strontium discovered was higher then Barium. Given the elevated levels of Barium daughter products found in the second girder and even the highest level of Uranium found (7.57ppm just West of and behind Tower One) this probably shows that active fission was still ongoing in the second girder coating, in the very same was as at WTC01-16 and therefore more Barium was found then Strontium. In other samples where the rate of fission had slowed down to give way to decay, the concentrations of Barium and Strontium reverse, due to the different half lives. Barium isotopes have a shorter half life then Strontium isotopes so they decay more quickly and after a period of time when no new Barium or Strontium has been deposited, Strontium will exceed Barium. The fact that more Barium then Strontium was still found at WTC01-16 and WTC01-09 shows that the overall nuclear processes taking place were somewhat favoring Barium over Strontium – and hence ZInc as well, as we will explore shortly.

The tighter cluster of Barium (400-500ppm) and Strontium (700-800ppm) concentrations across widely separated sampling locations in Lower Manhattan is cast iron proof that Nuclear Fission occurred. We know that Barium and Strontium are the characteristic signature of fission; they are formed by two of the most common Uranium fission pathways. The fact that their concentrations are so tightly coupled means that their source was at the very epicenter of the event which created the dust cloud that enveloped Manhattan. This was not a localized pre-existing chemical source which would only have contaminated a few closely spaced samples and left the remaining samples untouched.

The very high concentrations of Barium and Strontium at location WTC01-16 show that active nuclear fission was still ongoing at that spot; the dust was still “hot” and new Barium and new Strontium were being actively generated, actively created by transmutation from their parent nuclei.

Hey Doc, I apologize for that statement although it's often difficult to find the right terms to use in a comment box. Also, comment boxes are devoid of eye contact, facial expression, tone of voice and other nuances generally used as cues for understanding human conversation. I'm sure we agree on the basic issues, most people do to some extent.

I see dialogue as the better solution to what the politicians see as war as being the only solution. Perhaps because they don't have a desire to compromise. When you want what other people have, for example oil, gold, political power, often times you're just not willing to compromise and war is the answer. It's not my answer. When I see a dog that needs someone, but he is in San Jose, or Bangor Maine, my heart says help him, but my head and my means remind me that I can do nothing. If an animal needed help in my area, or in the area of my friends, I would relay the message and try to help to critter. I hate when anyone is hurting. Whether they be called man or not. I know I can't save the world though and if I try, I will hurt myself, to a point where I can't help anyone.

Most people using windows just use Internet Explorer, but that is a really bad browser and very susceptible to virus attacks. If you go to Google and type in "Chrome" it will give you the link to download a much better browser. I highly recommend it.

I have always felt extremely grateful for the decision Rhonda made, even more so once I started finding out what my life would have been like had she kept me. Thankfully she made the decision very quickly and my parents were able to come get me from the hospital the day after I was born. Bob was there, however, he is not the biological father. They did not wish to meet my mom and dad.

I have heard some stories, most of which seem to contradict themselves, and none of them good at all about Rhonda. I am curious about medical history in the family, as I know nothing at all. Having a daughter of my own now, you get very curious what genes you are passing on.

I also would love some idea of who she was- as a child and adult. Please don't feel the need to protect me, I am more just curious, and don't expect to hear much good. I'd much rather honesty.

I have had such a positive experience with adoption that I became very passionate about the profession. After graduating college I because a social worker. I did child abuse investigations for about 5 years, and then moved on to doing private adoptions with an Adoption Law Firm. Though staying at home now, I may be doing some work from home in the near future for another Adoption Company. I have counseled hundreds of birthmothers, and worked with couples adopting children. I am very grateful for my experience and the ability to use it in my field of work.

As for facebook, I try to keep that pretty private now that I have a baby and post a lot of things about her on there. I'd prefer to stick with emails if that's ok for now.

These people are really pissing me off. I tried to access the internet from the blackberry, and it said I couldn't. So I tried making a call to my other phone, and I got a recording saying that I do not have service. I had service earlier when I called you from it when we were talking to that guy on the phone, but now nothing. What kind of a fucking company are they running? I am so frustrated I could cry. I tried doing the *228 activation thing on it and it said that it could not process it and that I have to call back in the morning. I will deal with it tomorrow and try to get it working. I am seriously about to lose my temper with these asshats and just go ballistic on the next service rep I talk to.

Ok, I just got off the phone with them. They said that they could not reactivate that phone number because it had been deactivated too many times and I went off on them, because the whole thing was their fault. It was not a pretty situation. They issued me a new number (419-910-1062) and said that they are waving all of the charges that they had caused to incur on this, so that three hundred and something dollar charge that they recently sent you should also be waved. If it is not please let me know and I will let them hear more of what I can be like when I stop being a nice guy. I don't like being that way and I try to avoid that side of me, but these fuckers have driven me to my breaking point over all of this bullshit.
Anyhow, it should all be straightened out and the phone should be working as soon as I activate it. I have to wait an hour he said and then do the *228 thing.

Anyways, we have finally connected and are deeply in love. We've been together since 3/21, though we've been friends through working together for 5 years. I'm extremely happy, and my life is more peaceful than anything I've ever known. The best part is that it is the easiest thing I've ever done.

He went w/ me to visit Jonno and Sarah in L.H.C., AZ last month; OMG - so hot Satan would bail (119 degrees). Jonno and he were out in the water while Sarah and I were on land, and Jonno grilled him on what his intentions are. Pretty endearing.

Anyways, I know my phone never works in my house - but I didn't want any more time to go by w/o sharing this w/ you.

I have a friend that is trying help find a home for a pitbull. He's only 1 or 2 yrs old and he's not fixed. But he's super friendly and very loyal. Gets on well with other animals. They are getting to the end of their string on finding him a home (he was a stray) and are getting ready to take him to a pound, which they were told point blank that he will be put down pretty much upon arrival. :( He's red in color, I'm working on getting a pic. Know anyone that would like to give a loveing dog a loving home? :D

We are all doing good. Jessica is getting married on the 12th of June. Her and Sammy have been together for about ten years and have finally decided to tie the knot. Sammy is a real good guy and he treats her well.
Jessica is working on her master's degree at Ohio State University. She is going to be a High School science teacher. She does some substitute teaching now, but she has a couple years to go until she gets her masters and can teach full time.
She had gotten her bachelor's degree in science and was working in the pharmaceutical industry, but she didn't care for it. After meeting Meme she decided she would like to be a teacher, so she returned to college and is working hard to make that plan work out.
I hope all is well with you folks. Are you still at the Casino? How is the weather there? It was very warm here, but the last couple of days have turned very cold. It got down near freezing last night. That is strange for this time of year here.

Congratulations my friend. I have been thinking about moving to Grove City (near Columbus) myself. Jessica and Sammy want me to live closer to them. Btw, I heard from aunt Meme that you are still a Sim 2 player and was wondering what kind of sim fan are you? Do you like to just do architecture/landscaping, create sims, or make sim movies? I have all the sims 2 game/expansions and stuff packs, and was really into the architectural aspect of the game... When Sims 3 came out I switched over to that and haven't yet been disappointed. I am currently working on an apartment lot w/a 4 level basement for the vampires I'll be creating when the newest expansion comes out. :D

I was studying to become an archaeological anthropologist specializing in Near Eastern Studies (the Ancient Middle East). But then reality hit and I realized how slim the job pickings would be so I steered away from it. I took the following fall semester off to figure out what I wanted to do and lo and behold I became a mommy :) I definitely want to go back to school but because a career naturally comes after college I'd like to finish having our children first. I want to stay at home with my children until the youngest starts school. So college for me probably wont begin till I'm 30. But I'm cool with that. More time to think of a new study I'd like to pursue. Maybe environmental law? Who knows lol I'd definitely have to choose a career that is flexible enough to work around James' military life.

the discussion board is a great place for what you're looking for. its what its designed for.
there has been a lot of negative sentiment about van wert in a recent bit. the town is certainly not without problems. i was most interested in the things that have made it great and reasons it can be great again. step one will be getting more people employed.

No problems. I am not sure how Facebook handles it. It gave me the option to delete it but then it left the header, so hopefully you are right and it will get rid of the old header when they update.
By the way, congratulations on the success. A lot of people seem to be enjoying telling their old stories. Hopefully at least some of them will end up as concerned for the future as they are for the past. I don't think Van Wert has any problems that can't be fixed if people are willing to address them.
